RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Commander international Security Assistance force (ISAF) General John Campbell held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that two sides held a discussion over matters of mutual interest.
The ISAF commander and the COAS also discussed the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb against various outlawed militant groups in the restive North Waziristan tribal region.
The regional security situation and coordination along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border also came under discussion.
South African Army Chief calls on CJCSC
Separately, the Chief of the South African Army Lieutenant General Vusumuzi Ramakala Masondo called on the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashad Mahmood in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The ISPR said that during the meeting, both the dignitaries discussed matters related to mutual interests and the ongoing military cooperation.
The South African Army Chief appreciated the role played by the Armed Forces of Pakistan in eliminating the menace of terrorism.
Lieutenant General Masondo also vowed to further enhance the cordiality between the two Armed Forces in the field of training, mutual exchanges and other areas.
