LAHORE, Pakistan: At least nine persons lost their lives while several others sustained injuries in two separate road accidents in Punjab on Tuesday.
In the first incident, a collision took place between a bus and a school van near Kot Addu tehsil of Punjab’s Muzaffargarh district on Tuesday.
Resultantly, six persons including four school children were killed and several others injured.
The rescue team arrived at the scene and shifted the injured persons to a local hospital.
Separately, at least three persons were killed and seven others injured in a road accident that occurred at Rawalpindi road in Talagang tehsil of Chakwal district.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving remain the most common causes of road accidents in Pakistan.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, close to 9,000 road accidents have been reported across the country every year since 2011 which have killed over 4,500 people on an average.
