Police thwart terrorist bid in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Police have thwarted a terrorist attack at Wah Garden in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

Police sources said that a Rawalpindi bound bus was intercepted at a police check post. But as police were about to check a young boy, he ran and hurled a hand grenade on the police party.

Resultantly, he took his own life while one police constable named Shahid was injured due to the blast.

The Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has sought report of the incident.

Earlier this month, at least eight persons were killed and 16 others sustained injuries in a blast in Chittian Huttian area of Rawalpindi.

The blast had occurred when a Mehfil-e- Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAWW) was taking place in Imambargah Aun Muhammad Rizvi in the area on January 9.
