Nawaz asks Balochistan govt to improve governance

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided over a meeting in Islamabad on Friday to discuss matters pertaining to Balochistan.

During the meeting, the prime minister asked the Balochistan government to ensure good governance in the province as it is an important part of the country.

The prime minister said that the federal government is providing increased funds for the development of Balochistan with particular focus on infrastructure development.

Sharif said that the provincial and federal governments should work in coordination for optimum utilization of the mineral resources of the province.

The prime minister said that development of Gwadar Port and construction of Pak-China economic corridor would bring a wave of prosperity to the people of Balochistan.

The Leader of House in the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed, Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, Minister for State and Frontier Regions Lt. Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch, Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, Senator Mir Hasil Bizenjo, Senator Sardar Yaqoob Nasir, MNA Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Balochistan Minister for Mines and Minerals, Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Political Secretary to PM Dr Asif Kirmani attended the meeting.

Later, the prime minister left for Saudi Arabia to attend the funeral of late Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz who early on Friday morning died of respiratory problem in Riyadh.
