Kyrgyz foreign minister arrives in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Kyrgyz foreign minister Erlan Abdyldaev accompanied by senior officials will arrive in Islamabad on Thursday.

His visit will be undertaken on the invitation of the prime minister’s advisor on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz.

During his visit, the Kyrgyz foreign minister will hold delegation level talks with the advisor on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz.

The two sides will discuss bilateral relations and regional as well as international issues of mutual interest.

The visiting foreign minister will also pay courtesy call on President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The Kyrgyz foreign minister will also hold a meeting with the prime minister’s special assistant on foreign affairs Tariq Fatemi.

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan enjoy friendly and cordial relations and are tied together under the umbrella of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The relations between the two countries were established on December 20, 1991 shortly after Kyrgyzstan became independent from the Soviet Union while diplomatic relations were formally established on May 10, 1992.
