Air Marshal Sohail Aman appointed as new Air Chief

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday approved a summary moved by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to appoint Air Marshal Sohail Aman as new Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief.

Air Marshal Sohail Aman will replace the Chief of Air Staff Tahir Rafique Butt who proceeds on retirement.

Air Marshal Sohail Aman was commissioned in the PAF in November 1980 as a GD Pilot.

During his career, he commanded a fighter squadron, a fighter wing and an operational airbase.

The new PAF Chief is a graduate of Combat Commanders’ School, Air War College and Kings College London. He is also recipient of Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military).

Earlier, the Chief of the Air staff Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt paid farewell call on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the PM House in Islamabad.

The prime minister felicitated him on the successful completion of his career and wished him the best in future, a said a statement issued by the PM’s Office.

The air chief thanked the prime minister for taking keen interest in matters related to the PAF.

On Tuesday, the Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt paid a farewell call on the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashad Mahmood in Rawalpindi.

The CJCSC appreciated the services of the Chief of Air Staff in transforming the PAF into a vibrant and more potent force.
