Senator Azam Khan Hoti passes away in Mardan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Awami National Party (ANP) senior leader Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Hoti passed away in Mardan on Wednesday morning after protracted illness. He was 69.

His funeral prayer will be held in Mardan at 04:00 pm today.

Azam Khan Hoti was the father of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, the brother of senior ANP leader Begum Naseem Wali and brother-in-law of ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali.

Hoti was twice elected member of the National Assembly and also served as the Federal Minister. He remained Senator from 1994 to 1997 and from 2012 to date.

Senate passes resolution mourning demise of Azam Khan Hoti

The upper house of the Parliament was adjourned today without transacting any business in memory of late Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Hoti.

The Senate also passed a resolution, moved by the Pakistan Muslim league-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, deeply mourning the death of late Senator Azam Khan Hoti.

The resolution appreciated the services of the Azam Khan Hoti for his party, nation and the country.

President, prime minister express deep sorrow over demise of Azam Khan Hoti

Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, political parties’ leaders and other lawmakers expressed deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of Senator Azam Khan Hoti.

In their condolence messages, they prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and grant the courage to bereaved family to bear this loss.

The prime minister also appreciated the role of Azam Khan Hoti for development of his area.
