Federation assures KPK govt of meeting their demands

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday staged a protest in Islamabad on Tuesday for their demands, the federal government has assured the provincial government to resolve electricity, water and other issues on priority basis.

In order to register their protest against load-shedding and the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (PCEC) route, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government led by the Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak staged a protest outside the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Later, the Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif held a meeting with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and had successful talks regarding power outages, the PCEC and issues regarding net hydel power.

Talking to media outside the Parliament House, Asif said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will hold a meeting with the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar next week in Islamabad to resolve electricity, water and other issues.

The minister made it clear that the CPEC will pass through on its original route in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which will be benefited for the people of that area.

Khawaja Asif said that steps are being taken to find a durable solution of all the problems of provincial government. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has convened a meeting on economic corridor tomorrow.

Pervaiz Khattak said that talks with the federal government on issues confronting to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been successful. He said that he will meet Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) on Friday to resolve the water issue.
