QUETTA, Pakistan: The Opposition leader in the National Assembly and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Syed Khursheed Shah has urged all political parties to work for the success of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and not make it controversial.
In his address at all parties’ conference organized by the Awami National Party (ANP) on the CPEC in Quetta on Saturday, Khursheed Shah said that the economic corridor is a historic economic package that would benefit the entire region.
The PPP leader said that historic memorandum of understandings (MoUs) were signed regarding economic corridor during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Pakistan.
The Chinese president paid a two-day official visit to Pakistan on April 20-21 during which both the countries signed more than 50 agreements and MoUs worth $46 billion covering key development projects in the infrastructure, energy and communication sectors under the ambit of the CPEC.
Khursheed Shah said that the corridor will benefit not only China but also Afghanistan and central Asian countries.
The opposition leader said that Balochistan would become golden gateway of Pakistan after the completion of this mega project.
On the occasion, participants of the all parties’ conference in a joint declaration welcomed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
