PESHAWAR, Pakistan: An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast occurred in the restive North Waziristan tribal region on Saturday that left three security personal martyred.
The security sources said that the blast was carried out in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan.
The sources said that the security troops were on a routine patrol in the area when their vehicle was hit by the IED planted along the roadside.
Resultantly, three security personnel were killed while three others sustained injuries.
The blast took place in the volatile North Waziristan agency where the Pakistan’s military has been conducting a full-fledged operation since June 2014 against different militant organizations as a part of efforts to end insurgency in the country.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have arrested 440 suspects during search operations in various parts of the northwestern province under the anti-terrorism national action plan (NAP) launched following December 16 terror attack at Peshawar army public school.
The police also seized huge cache of arms and ammunitions from suspects’ possession.
In addition, the security inspections of 806 educational institutions in the province were also carried out and various institutions were advised to further beef up security arrangements.
