QUETTA, Pakistan: Three militants belonging to banned organizations were arrested in search operations conducted in volatile Balochistan province on Monday, a day after a blast hit convoy of President Mamnoon Hussain’s son in Hub .
In a statement, a spokesman for the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan said that the security personnel after receiving a tip-off about the presence of militants carried out search operations in Panjgor and Qilla Saifullah districts of Balochistan.
The spokesman said that the FC personnel apprehended two militants of the banned outfit Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) in Panjgor while one militant of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was detained in Qilla Saifullah.
The raids were conducted a day after a convoy of son of President Mamnoon Hussain was targeted in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Balochistan’s Hub City.
The president’s son Salman remained unhurt in the blast but unfortunately at least three persons lost their lives and 15 others including police personnel were injured in the incident.
Police said that the explosive material was planted in a motorcycle parked near a restaurant on RCD Highway. It said that the blast occurred when the convoy was passing through the area.
