ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) alone has managed 504 Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) in all Districts of the Punjab in last 24 hours, in which Six precious lives were lost and 378 victims were seriously injured whereas 218 minor injured were provided first aid at the accidents’ site by rescue officials across the Province.
These 504 accidents affected 100 pedestrians; 301 passengers and 203 drivers. Some 109 RTAs took place in Lahore placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 53 in Faisalabad, 40 in Gujranwala, 11 in Bahawalpur and 18 in Sialkot.
According to the statistics collected by Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Rescue 1122, out of total 602 RTA’s victims, 497 were males and 104 females, while age group of the victims show that 90 were under 18 year of age, 377 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 135 victims were reported above 40 years.
The vehicles involved in traffic accidents included motorbikes, auto rickshaws, motor cars, tractors, passenger buses, trucks, slow moving vehicles and other types of auto vehicles.
