Pakistan's enemies not happy with its progress, says Nawaz

QUETTA, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan’s enemies are not happy with its progress and development and want to weaken it through such incidents.

In his remarks while presiding over a high level meeting on law and order situation in Balochistan on Tuesday in the backdrop of recent Mastung incident, he said that the government is determined to eradicate terrorism and extremism from the country.

The prime minister said that the military operation Zarb-e-Azb has been going on successfully in the North Waziristan tribal region and would continue till the elimination of last terrorist.

Earlier, the Chief Secretary Balochistan briefed the meeting on law and order situation in the province in general and Mastung incident in particular.

The meeting was attended by the Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, State Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Mir Jam Kamal, Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch, Senior Provincial Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, Provincial Home Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Commander Southern Command Lt. General Nasir Khan Janjua and IG Frontier Corps, Balochistan Police.

During his stay, the prime minister will also preside over an All Parties Conference (APC) at the Governor House in Quetta. The APC has been convened by the Chief Minister Balochistan to evolve a strategy after Mastung incident.

On Friday night, militants kidnapped passengers from two Karachi-bound coaches and killed at least 22 of them in Khad Kocha area of Balochistan’s Mastung district.
