Pakistan not to accept any move of Houthi rebels against Saudi Arabia: President Mamnoon

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Pakistan says it stands by Saudi Arabia and would not accept any move of the Yemeni Houthi rebels.

“Pakistan wants diplomatic solution of the Yemen crisis,” President Mamnoon Hussain said in an interview in Madina Munawara.

Since March, Saudi led air strikes continue in Yemen against Shia Houthi rebels in an attempt to help Yemeni former President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to reclaim his power.

The aerial strikes, according to the UN estimates, have left at least 2,600 people dead and 11,000 others injured in Yemen since March 19.

The president further said that a large Pakistani diaspora in Saudi Arabia serves as a bridge between the two countries. He said that deep rooted relations between the two brotherly countries are based on strong foundations.

“Pakistani people have great love for the Haramain Shareefain,” Mamnoon Hussain said.

Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain visited Roza-e-Rasool (SAW) in Madina-e-Munawara along with his family members. He offered prayers and Nawafil at Riazul Jannah. He also prayed for integrity and stability in the country.

Earlier on Friday, the president held a meeting with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud in Jeddah.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and ways of enhancing and developing them in various fields. The overall regional and international events also came under discussion in the meeting.
