Last year, the militant group expelled its spokesman Shahidullah Shahid after he along with five other group commanders announced their allegiance to the Islamic State (IS).

I am confirming my allegiance to Amirul Momineen Abu Bakar al-Baghdadi and would abide by all his decisions, whatever is the order, and whatsoever the circumstances, i shall be loyal to him and obey his orders,” Shahidullah Shahid had said in a statement in October 2014.

Meanwhile a spokesman of the Afghan intelligence agency National Directorate of Security (NDS) Sediq Sediqi said in a statement issued in Kabul on Thursday that 25 terrorists were killed as a result of a US drone strike carried out on Wednesday night in Deh Bala district of Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.

The spokesman said that there was no harm to civilians in the airstrikes.

The US recently intensified its drone attacks in eastern Afghanistan while on Wednesday in two separate drone strikes in Haska Mina and Achin districts of Nangarhar, 43 militants belonging to the IS were killed.

The strikes also left the IS Commander Gul Zaman and his deputy commander dead.
