ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Eidul Fitr is being celebrated on Friday in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the tribal areas though the official Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is yet to hold its meeting for sighting of Shawwal moon.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Islamabad on Friday evening with its Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman in the chair.

The Regional Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will also hold their meetings at their headquarters to collect evidences regarding sighting of moon.

In case, Shawwal moon is sighted today which according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has a high chance, Muslims across the country will celebrated Eidul Fitr on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Eidul Fitr is being celebrated on Friday in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federal Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA).

Earlier late on Thursday, meeting of an unofficial committee led by Mufti Shahabuddin Populzai at Masjid Qasim Ali Khan in Peshawar announced that the moon has been sighted, and they have received sufficient testimonies in this regard from various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The meeting announced that Eid will be celebrated in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Bannu, Kohat, Charsadda, Mardan, Swat, Peshawar and the FATA’s North and South Waziristan Agency.

Eidul Fitr is also being celebrated today in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Gulf states, Turkey, Malaysia and Indonesia and Australia.
