RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that the dialogue process between the Afghan government and the Taliban is the only credible way to achieve lasting peace in the region.

The Afghan peace talks are currently stalled at the request of the Taliban but Pakistan has urged negotiators to stay engaged in the process of peace talks in order to promote a lasting peace in the war-torn country.

“Detractors and spoilers are against peace and prosperity of Afghanistan and the region,” General Raheel said while presiding over the Corps Commander’s conference in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
