KARACHI, Pakistan: A network of terrorists trained by the Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) was arrested by personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Karachi on Thursday.
In a press conference in Karachi, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Naveed Khawaja told media persons that the terrorists belong to a political party and received training in different cities of India.
The SSP said that the arrested terrorists named as Muhammad Shafiq alias Pappu, Abdul Jabbar alias Zaffar, Muhammad Mohsin alias Kashif and Khalid the terrorists were trying to create law and order situation in Karachi.
The terrorists, according to the SSP, have confessed that they were planning to carry out an attack at the Imambargah Shah-e-Khurasan in Karachi in the month of Muharram.
Naveed Khawaja further told that the terrorists have disclosed that they were being funded by India through different bank accounts.
Furthermore, he said that several traders and businessmen were aiding these terrorists directly or indirectly.
The Indian spy agency has consistently been accused of being involved in terror activities in Pakistan especially in Karachi and Balochistan province.
Earlier in the day at the weekly news briefing in Islamabad, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah told newsmen that the Pakistani government has decided to acquaint the United Nations about its concerns on Indian involvement in terror-related incidents across Pakistan.
