SIALKOT, Pakistan: The Indian border security force (BSF) committed more than 75 ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary during July-August 2015, according to the Punjab Rangers.

Meanwhile, according to senior officials of the Punjab Rangers, the Indian BSF again resorted to unprovoked firing with small and heavy weapons early Friday morning.

The official said that the firing occurred on border villages in Chaprar sector near Sialkot Working Boundary. The civilian population was targeted in the firing; however fortunately no loss to human life was reported. Although several houses were damaged in the firing.

The Punjab Rangers retaliated effectively in a befitting manner, making the Indian guns silent.

Last week, eight people including one woman and a child were martyred and 47 others injured including 24 women and 11 children when the Indian BSF personnel resorted to shelling along the Working Boundary in Sialkot’s Charwah, Harpal, Chaprar and Sucheetgarh sectors.

Later in a statement, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed the Foreign Office and defence authorities to take up the issue of ceasefire violations with their Indian counterparts.

The prime minister expressed his concern over frequent incidents of unprovoked firing on working boundary and the LoC.
