ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) alone has managed 578 Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) in all Districts of the Punjab in last 24 hours, in which Six precious lives were lost and 464 victims were seriously injured whereas 212 minor injured were provided first aid at the accidents’ site by rescue officials across the Province.
These 578 accidents affected 118 pedestrians; 327 passengers and 229 drivers. Some 131 RTAs took place in Lahore placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 59 in Faisalabad, 39 in Gujranwala and 37 in Multan.
According to the data of Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Rescue 1122, out of total 681 RTA’s victims, 490 were males and 188 females, while age group of the victims show that 110 were under 18 year of age, 406 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 161 victims were reported above 40 years.
The vehicles involved in traffic accidents included motorbikes, auto rickshaws, motor cars, tractors, passenger buses, trucks, slow moving vehicles and other types of auto vehicles.
