In a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, the Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan explained the salient features of the policy.

The minister said that the procedure for registration of INGOs has been simplified and the government would facilitate all those who want to work for some good cause in the country.

Nisar said that all INGOs will have to apply for registration in 60 days and the Ministry would also take a decision within 60 days regarding approval or otherwise.

The interior minister said that a monitoring committee is being set up in the interior ministry to ensure that the INGOs confine themselves to the specified activity and areas. He said that previously some Non-Government Organizations (NGO) were working outside their allowed domain and areas.

The minister said that the MoU would remain in force for three years and foreign nationals will need visa for their arrival in the country and the nature of the visa would not be changed.

In addition, he said that the registration of the INGOs found to be indulging in any illegal funding, financing, or interaction with proscribed organizations will be automatically cancelled.
