LONDON: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that Pakistan wants good neighbourly relations with India but with dignity and honour.    

His remarks came while addressing at a dinner reception held in his honor by the Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Ibne Abbas in London.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his address to the annual session of the United National General Assembly in New York also proposed four point peace measures to defuse tension between the two South Asian countries.

The proposed measures included respect of 2003 ceasefire agreement by both Pakistan and India, no use of force under any circumstances, demilitarization of Kashmir and unconditional mutual withdrawal from Siachen Glacier.

The COAS further said that Pakistan is passing through defining moments.

“We have given great sacrifices and it is time for Pakistan to move on, have peace and stability and make economic progress,” he said.

General Raheel said that the military operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorists has a great positive effect on Pakistan’s security environment. He said that the operation would continue until the country gets rid of the menace of terrorism.

Talking about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the COAS said that the project a game changer and it would benefit not only Pakistan but the entire region.

Moreover, he said that Pakistan and the United Kingdom have historical relations and military to military linkages with each other were strengthening.
