LAHORE, Pakistan: The turnout of by-election held in NA-122 Lahore-V on Sunday remained 43.10 percent while security deposits of candidates including that of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) were forfeited.
On Sunday, by-elections were held in NA-122, PP-147 and NA-144 amid tight security which were son by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, PTI’s Shoaib Siddique and independent candidate Riazul Haq respectively.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) released unofficial results, according to which, there were 347762 registered voters in NA-122 and 149885 votes were cast, out of which 1858 votes were rejected. The turnout remained 43.10 percent.
The former Speaker National Assembly and PML-N’s candidate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq won the by-election in NA-122 Lahore by securing 74,525 votes. His main rival PTI candidate Abdul Aleem Khan got 72,082 votes and was the runners up.
The PPP’s candidate Barrister Aamir Hasan obtained 819 votes and was at number three.
The ECP said that there were 140767 registered voters in PP-147 and 62534 voters used their right of franchise showing turnout percentage of 44.42.
The PTI’s Muhammad Shoaib Siddiqui emerged as victorious by won securing 31964 votes while the PML-N’S Mohsin Latif remained the runners up with 28402 votes. The PPP’s Iftikhar Shahid Advocate got 758 votes.

Likewise, according to unofficial results, independent candidate Riazul Haq won by-election in Okara’s NA-144 constituency by securing 83220 votes. The PML-N’s Ali Arif Chaudhry remained the runners up by bagging 41050 while Ashraf Sohna of the PTI remained won only 7180 votes.
PTI accepts defeat in NA-122
Meanwhile, the PTI’s Abdul Aleem Khan has accepted his defeat in NA-122.
In his address at a news conference in Lahore, Aleem Khan said that squeezed margin of votes is an achievement for PTI workers and voters.
The PTI senior leader Jahangir Tareen said that the result of NA-122 by-polls has not affected the morale of PTI. He said that the party is fully prepared for local bodies election.
PML-N’s victory in NA-122 proves transparency of 2013 elections
The Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed has said that victory of the PML-N candidate in NA-122 has proved transparency of 2013 general election.
Talking to a news channel, he said that the PTI Chairman Imran Khan has wasted two and a half years of the nation in the politics of baseless allegations and the mantra rigging.
