Blast in DHA Lahore
LAHORE, Pakistan: An under-construction building was blown up with a time device bomb on Thursday in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Z Block, Lahore which left at least 8 people dead and 21 wounded.
Blast took place at 11.13 am. Punjab government initially claimed that it was a generator blast and released a twitter statement also to undermine the terror event. However it was confirmed by authorities later that 8 to 10 kilograms of explosive material was used time device bomb that was planted in an under construction building.
The injured were taken to the general hospital in Lahore where according to medical staff, 4 injured person were in critical condition.
The blast was so powerful that not only it damaged the building but also caused damages to other nearby buildings, vehicles and motorcycles.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Ali Khan, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other political leaders condemned the blast at Lahore DHA.
In a statement, the prime minister expressed deep grief over the loss of precious lives in the blast. He prayed for eternal peace to departed souls and expressed sympathies with bereaved families and the injured.
The prime minster ordered the Punjab government to provide best medical facilities to the injured. He also sought a report on the incident.
Bilawal said that “We have to conduct operations throughout the Country without discrimination.”
“We cannot overcome terrorism without implementing NAP.”
