ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad on Monday issued notice to former president Asif Ali Zardari to appear before it on October 29 in connection with five references of corruption against him.
The court’s Judge Muhammad Bashir resumed hearing the references against the former president; however despite earlier notices from the court no representative of former president and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) appeared before it.
Last week, the accountability court had reopened five references against Zardari which included Ursus tractors, Cotecna-SGS, polo ground, ARY Gold and assets references.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed chairman of NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry took notice of the absence of NAB officials from the hearing and issued instructions to ensure the implementation of the court’s order and directed the NAB prosecutor to appear for the hearing.
