“Afghan Jihad brought disaster in the region and was designed by United States”: Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Lahore: Chief of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI), Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that Afghanistan will face again a civil war if allied forces leave this country before developing any political system and reconciliation among different groups of the society. Maulana Fazlur Rehman whose party was frontline actor of Afghan Jihad now says that 1979 Afghan war looked like a planned conspiracy of United States to destabilize the region and Gen Ziaul Haq was placed in Pakistan to tow American policies in post Afghan war because Bhutto could not follow USA policy to destabilize this region.
Talking to national press and participants of forum “Dialogue” held at the offices of SAFMA Lahore on Thursday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman maintained that Afghan Jihad started in 1979 was a disastrous development for Afghanistan and Pakistan and borders between the two countries are facing bloodshed for the last 30 years. He believes that matter cannot be resolved with wars and by using military or weaponry power and he is against Jihad with gun. Dialogue was conducted by senior political analyst and chief of SAFMA Imtiaz Alam.
His lecture was very thought provoking because Maulana Fazlur Rehman rejected common viewpoint of religious parties that Jihad with gun is the only way to get justices from oppressors and biggest oppressor d for Muslims is United States.
He was of the view that Pakistan faced martial laws and after every martial law there was a drastic regional change and all martial laws were clamped in Pakistan to support America agendas. He stated that American imposed martial laws to change the region because no political and democratic government could follow American’s guidelines as dictators did in 1971, 1977 and then in 1999. He indicated that Afghan Russian war looked as design war by the United States and martial in 1977 was installed by United States for confirming that US agenda in Afghan war would be followed.
