ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The militants based in neighboring Afghanistan were involved in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast which occurred in Kurram agency yesterday, sources said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, eight people including three women and a child were killed when their vehicle struck a landmine in Ghos Ghari area of Kurram agency.

Sources said that the Afghan militants were involved in yesterday’s IED blast in the agency. They said that the blast was planned in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, a high level delegation from Afghanistan comprising the Interior Minister Wais Ahmad Barmak and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) Chief Muhammad Masoum Stanikzai reached Islamabad with a message from the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

During the talks between the Pakistani authorities and the Afghan delegation, the two sides are expected to review issues related to border management, terrorist infiltration, and recent militant activities in both the Countries.

Afghan government had requested that a high level delegation comprising Interior Minister and NDS chief would like to visit Pakistan with a message from Afghan President and for discussions about cooperation between the two countries. Delegation is here and will have talks today,” the Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal said in twitter.
