ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Afghan National Security Adviser Hanif Atmar on Tuesday held a telephonic conversation with his Pakistani Counterpart Lt General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua, and condoled the death of Pakistani diplomat in Jalalabad.
On Monday, a Pakistani diplomatic official Nayyar Iqbal Rana was gunned down by assailants riding a motor bike near his residence in Jalalabad, the Capital of Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar Province.
During the conversation held today with Nasser Janjua, the Afghan national security adviser expressed deep grief and sorrow over the killing of Pakistani diplomat.
The afghan national security adviser assured Nasser Janjua that a thorough inquiry would be conducted into the incident while Pakistan would also be apprised about the outcome.
Hanif Atmar assured that the culprits would be brought to justice. He expressed hope that the Afghan officials would soon apprehend the assailants involved in the killing of Pakistani diplomat.
Nayyar Iqbal Rana was deputed at Consulate General of Pakistan in Jalalabad.
Earlier in the day, his dead body reached Peshawar on the way to Islamabad.
