KABUL: Over 2,100 persons were killed after a landslide triggered by torrential rain smashed into a village in the mountainous district of Argo in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province a day earlier.
“More than 2,100 people from 300 families are all dead,” a spokesman for the Badakhshan provincial governor Naweed Forotan told a foreign news agency on Saturday.
The spokesman said that more than 1,000 families lived in the village.
