Monitoring Desk: Afghanistan has snubbed British Ambassador to Afghanistan Nicholas Peter Kay who reaffirms the fact that Durand Line is the formal border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The National Security Adviser (NSA) of Afghanistan Mohammad Hanif Atmar has asked British Ambassador to Afghanistan Nicholas Peter Kay respect historic rights of the country (Afghanistan).
In a statement issued by the office of the National Security Council (ONSC), National Security Adviser (NSA) of Afghanistan Mohammad Hanif Atmar said that reports have emerged regarding the Durand Line through media agencies where the foreign diplomats have offered their views regarding the Durand Line.
Atmar said the Afghan government urges the foreign diplomats to respect the historic rights of Afghanistan and understand the sensitivity of the Afghan people regarding the national and historic values, including Durand Line issue.
He said the foreign diplomats should offer their views by considering the sensitivity of the Afghan nation.
It may be mentioned that British Ambassador to Afghanistan Nicholas Peter Kay during an interview with the BBC categorically said that international community and Britain recognizes Durand Line as the formal border between the two countries and Pakistan has the right to fence the border.
It is pertinent to mention that Durand Line is recognized border between Pakistan and Afghanistan by international community but Afghan government is trying to make this border controversial without having any logical or historic perspective in its favour.
