ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has welcomed Afghanistan’s interest to become part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Talking to Voice of America (VOA) on Monday, he said that Afghanistan has expressed its interest through its diplomat in Pakistan.
Minister said earlier Saudi Arabia and Iran have also pressed their interest in CPEC.
He said the original purpose of CPEC is to establish regional connectivity and trade bridge in the region.
He expressed his hope that regional trade through CPEC would strengthen peace in the region.
To a question, Ahsan Iqbal said that CPEC is most discussed and most debatable project of Pakistan while no agreement is hidden in this regard.
He said CPEC would be the game changer for backward areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
