Srinagar, Indian Occupied Kashmir: Revealing information are surfacing about attack on a bus carrying Amarnath yatris on Monday evening in Batengoo near Khanabal in Anantnag district.

The bus under attacked carrying registration number GJ 09 Z 9976 was not registered with Amarnath Shrine Board as part of pilgrim convoy and was carrying 70 Yatris to Anantnag although official Yatra was concluded two days before this incident.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) confirmed in a statement that Special Forces including Police were withdrawn from route on July 5, 2017 when Yatra was officially suspended.

It was also revealed in statement that Police does not allow commuting of public transport including buses on this route after 7 pm while ill-fated bus was carrying 70 Yatris this route after 7 pm. Bus did not take any permission from police for carrying Yatris after 7 pm deadline on this route.

Police confirmed that the company which sent Yatris after end of official Yatra without getting permission from police would be investigated. However, police appreciated the role of bus driver whose decision of not stopping bus after firing resorted by terrorists saved lives of over 55 passengers.

It may be mentioned that Muslim driver of this Muhammad Saleem did not spot bus when terrorists started firing at his vehicle and managed to reach a safer place although 20 Yatris mostly women were injured inside bus after terrorists attacked bus in Batengoo Bazar while returning from Baltal to Mir Bazar.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has announced reward for bus driver Saleem and said that driver’s name would be nominated for National Bravery Award.

It may be mentioned that terrorists attacked a bus of Yatris in Batengoo Bazar on July 10 at 8:20 pm which was Amarnath Yatra pilgrims. Eight Yatris lost their lives in this tragic terror attack.

Kashmir leadership including Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mir Waiz Umar Farooq condemned attack and called it sad and unfortunate incident.
