ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Amir of the State of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani reached Pakistan on Saturday on a two-day official which will further strengthen the close fraternal ties between the two Countries and deepen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

The Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was accorded a red carpet reception upon his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi with Prime Minister Imran Khan personally receiving him warmly.

The visiting dignitary was presented a 21-gun salute, and two children presented bouquets to him.

Prime Minister Imran Khan introduced his Federal Cabinet members including the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, his Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis Syed Zulfikar Bukhari and others with the guest.

His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is accompanied by a high level delegation comprising key ministers and senior officials.

During his visit, the visiting dignitary will hold meetings with with President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan, and discuss ways and means of building a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership.

During the visit, the two sides will sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)/agreements for Pakistan-Qatar enhanced bilateral cooperation in different areas.

Earlier in the day, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi received his Qatari Counterpart, who is also the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani and his delegation at Nur Khan Airbase.

Later, both the foreign minister also held one on one meeting in which they discussed bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

Qureshi said that Pakistan gives special importance to its relations with Qatar. He said that Pakistanis living in Qatar are playing the role of bridge between the two Countries.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that bilateral trade volume between Pakistan and Qatar has crossed US$2.5 billion mark.

Meanwhile in a statement, Ambassador of Qatar to Pakistan Saqar Bin Mubarak Al Mansouri said that the visit of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Pakistan would contribute in strengthening the bilateral relations.

The Qatari ambassador said that the visit would establish a future partnership based relationship between the two Countries.
