Days after Indian Captain Virat Kohli eulogized Pakistani fast bowler Muhammad Amir, the latter reciprocated and described the former as his favourite batsman in recent times.
In a recent interview, Virat Kohli had said that Muhammad Amir was the toughest bowler he had faced in recent times, and someone had to be on his best while facing Amir; otherwise he might lose his wicket any time soon.
Talking to media, the 25-year-old Muhammad Amir said that to be honest, it feels good when you do get payoff for performing well.
Amir said that no doubt, Virat Kohli is a good batsman and praise from him gives you confidence and you start believing that you can perform much better.
“I have said many times that he (Kohli) is my favourite batsman in recent times,” Amir said adding that Virat Kohli is quite a tough batsman and you also need to be taught when you are bowling at him.
“No doubt, there is only Plan ‘A’ to get him out as soon as possible,” Amir said.
Muhammad Amir said that Kohli’s ratio of success in chases is very good. He has always performed well in the pressure games, so if you get him out early then you have won half the match, Amir said.
“From my point of view, Kohli is very good cricketer,” Muhammad Amir added. “I wish he creates more records for his Country and for his fans.”
In reply to a question, Amir said that out mutual understanding is really good, whenever we meet, we greet each other.
Muhammad Amir said that we have also played Under-29 together. He said that Kohli was the Captain of his team in the year I played the Under-19 World Cup, so our mutual understanding is good.
Amir said that Kohli gifted me a bat during the Champions Trophy 2017 and before that he gifted me a bat during the World T20.
“I really like his bats and I always asked for them. He gifts me his bats even if I don’t ask him. No doubt, if he requires something from me, I will definitely give it,” he said.
In reply to another question, Amir said that there is no friendship at the ground, every person is representing his Country.
“They (Indian players) are trying to give their best for their Country and we (Pakistani players) try to give our best for our Country,” he said.
Amir further said that i thinks one should support cricket, Indians are passionate about cricket and so are Pakistanis. He said that if you see during the Champions Trophy 2017 final, there was a social media war.
“This should not happen. Fans should support cricket, and that would be beneficial to both the Countries,” Amir said.
