Islamabad, Pakistan: International Islamic University, Islamabad keeps in news sometimes for its academic achievements and sometimes otherwise.

Recently an objectionable video got viral on social media in which a senior professor who also enjoys one of the higher administrative posts at IIU allegedly found in objectionable circumstances.

The video posted on Facebook was blocked by PTA on January 14, 2021, at the request of the Cyber Crime Wing of FIA, but the same was spread widely on other social media in and outside the university. However, no inquiry was conducted to determine the credibility of the video and allegations submitted against the person in question.

This case is yet to be out of the news as one of the senior professors of the same institution has submitted an application to the Chairman / The Rector Board of Governors and the President of International Islamic University for a fair and impartial inquiry into the case.

The application was submitted on January 28, 2012, by Zafar Iqbal who is Professor of Media Studies and President, Academic Staff Association (ASA-IIUI).

In his application, he demanded the University Administration send professor whose alleged objectionable video was surface on forced leave with immediate effect as is usually done in cases of such nature and also demanded that IIU Administration should file a complaint with FIA Cyber Crime Wing with immediate effect to ascertain whether the video is original and other related investigation following the due course of law, subsequently.

The copies of the application have been sent to Principal Secretary to President of Pakistan, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister of Pakistan, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Government of Pakistan, Secretary, Minister for Education and Professional Training, Government of Pakistan, Chairman, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, Executive Director, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, Federal Ombudsman (Harassment), all members, Board of Governors, IIUI and to Prime Minister Portal.
