RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Pakistan army nabbed six terrorists including two important terrorist commanders while carrying out combing operation last night in Kallar Sayedan and Gujar Khan areas of Rawalpindi district.

In a press release issued on Friday, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that cache of arms and ammunition including prepared improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were also recovered from the possession of arrested terrorists.

The combing operations are underway across the country to bust terrorist sleeper cells and eliminate hiding terrorists.

These operations follow the deadly bombing in Quetta’s Civil Hospital where on last Monday, a suicide blast killed over 70 persons which included mostly lawyers and also two journalists.

Later while presiding over a Corps Commanders Conference in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif had directed the Commanders and intelligence outfits to further intensify the combing and targeted operations with full vigour to eliminate terrorists and sleeper cells.

The COAS had also directed commanders to provide all necessary assistance to provincial law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in their capacity building through training, resourcing and planning so as to integrate them effectively in counter terrorism operations.
