ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Finance Asad Umer will hold a meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde in Dubai on Sunday.

In a statement on Saturday, the Spokesperson of the Finance Ministry said that Asad Umar will discuss Pakistani economy in his meeting with the managing director IMF.

The spokesperson said that Pakistan is in continuous contact with the IMF and constructive dialogue is undergoing between them. He said that economic reforms are need of Pakistan not the IMF.

Furthermore he also said that decrease in deficit will benefit Pakistan, not the IMF. He said that current account deficit is lowering continuously and pressure of external payments is decreasing accordingly.

It is worth noting that Asad Umar will leave for Dubai tomorrow along with Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Affairs Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Maritime Affairs Minister Syed Ali Haider Zaidi and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood.

The prime minister will participate in the 7th edition of the World Government Summit in Dubai.

In his key note address at the Summit, the prime minister will highlight his vision for a strong and prosperous Pakistan. He will encourage investment in different sectors of Pakistan economy.

The prime minister will also meet the UAE leadership.
