Asim Saleem Bajwa - The Chairman CPEC Authority Lt General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has relinquished the additional portfolio of the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting. “I requested the honourable Prime Minister to relinquish me from the additional portfolio of SAPM on Info & broadcasting. He very kindly approved my request,” Asim Saleem Bajwa said in a Twitter statement on Monday. Lt General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa was assigned the additional portfolio of the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting on April 27, 2020. Earlier, he had already been serving as the Chairman CPEC Authority. Later in September, Asim Saleem Bajwa tendered his resignation amid allegations over possessing assets beyond means; however, Prime Minister Imran Khan refused to accept his resignation and asked him to continue to hold the additional post as his Special Assistant on Information.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman CPEC Authority Lt General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has relinquished the additional portfolio of the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting.

“I requested the honourable Prime Minister to relinquish me from the additional portfolio of SAPM on Info & broadcasting. He very kindly approved my request,” Asim Saleem Bajwa said in a Twitter statement on Monday.

Lt General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa was assigned the additional portfolio of the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting on April 27, 2020. Earlier, he had already been serving as the Chairman CPEC Authority.

Later in September, Bajwa tendered his resignation amid allegations over possessing assets beyond means; however, Prime Minister Imran Khan refused to accept his resignation and asked him to continue to hold the additional post as his Special Assistant on Information.

In an Exclusive Interview with Nadeem Malik aired on Samaa TV on October 1, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that they hadn’t found Bajwa guilty of indulging in any financial irregularities but he vowed that if any concrete evidence against the Special Assistant surfaces, a probe will be conducted into that.
