ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The joint military parade was held at Parade Ground near Faizabad Interchange in which contingents of three armed forces and security forces conducted march past while fighter jets presented aerobatic maneuvers, reports DND News Agency from Islamabad.
Azerbaijani military contingent also participated in Parade along with military contingents of Pakistan, Bahrain, China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka.
“It was a great pride to see flag of Azerbaijan🇦🇿 in Pakistani sky and along with flag of Pakistan🇵🇰 and some other friendly countries as well! Excellent performances of Azerbaijani paratroopers and marching column first time in Pakistan Day Parade 2019. Happy Pakistan Day! Azerbaijan-Pakistan Dosti Zindabad,” Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Alizada said in a statement.
Azerbaijani military officials had hectic day in Pakistan on Friday also when the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, who is in Islamabad to attend 79th Pakistan Day of Pakistan, called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters of Pakistan on Friday and attend Pakistan Parade on Saturday.
During the meeting matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation came under discussion. The Visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and stability.
Earlier on arrival at GHQ, the Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented the guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.
It may be mentioned that Colonel General Zakir Hasanov also held meetings with President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi, the Defence Minister of Pakistan Pervaiz Khatak and the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat on Friday.
Ambassador Ali Alizada said that the warm, fruitful and productive meetings of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel General Zakir Hasanov have been held with military and civil leadership of Pakistan.
The Ambassador said that support of two fraternal countries to each other and military cooperation will be further expanded.
