ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and India on Tuesday discussed recent tension on the Line of Control (LoC), which have been going on since August, and latest developments in bilateral relations of the two countries.

The discussion was held between the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan T.C.A. Raghavan and Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz at the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Tuesday.

They also discussed the details of a meeting that is likely to take place between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly this month.

During the meeting, Aziz said the impending meeting of the prime ministers of the neighbouring countries would be a step towards improving relations, adding that it was an effective way to clarify confusions.

Moreover, the adviser stressed that Pakistan was looking to foster cordial ties with India, adding that the September meeting between the two premiers would go a long way to addressing misunderstandings from the past.

Raghavan is expected to relay the details of the meeting to the Indian government.
