ISLAMABAD: Senator Farhatullah Babar on Friday denied rumours about President Asif Ali Zardari’s plan to resign following his party’s crushing defeat in May 11 elections and said he has no intention to resign before the expiry of his constitutional term.
Babar said that there is no question of Zardari leaving the presidency.
Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), the former ruling party, has suffered a humiliating defeat in the election. It has been wiped out from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
But PPP got some respite in Sindh, where it emerged as the single largest party by bagging 67 seats.
