AWARAN: The death toll has risen to 30 people and more than 500 injured in on Saturday’s earthquake in Awaran district.

According to the Met Office‚ the epicenter of the Earth quake tremor was about one hundred and fifty kilometers from Khuzdar.

The areas where tremors were felt included Quetta‚ Khuzdar‚ Awaran‚ Kech‚ Pangur‚ Jaffarabad‚ Naseerabad‚ Chaghi‚ Dera Allah Yar‚ Dalbandin‚ Kashmore‚ Karachi‚ Larkana‚ Dadu and Shahdad Kot.

Balochistan government Spokesman Jan Muhammad Buledi said Quetta correspondent that a number of houses were demolished in the village. Rescue teams have been sent to the areas to carry out rescue activities.

Deputy Commissioner Awaran District Rashid Baloch said local people and administration are retrieving the people from the debris. He said the earthquake has badly disrupted the communication infrastructure in the area.

A spokesman of FC says several FC posts have been damaged in the quake. He said hundreds of mud houses have also been collapsed.
