ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has so far planted 80 crore trees in the province, and its impact will go into the next generation.

“There is an 83 percent success rate of the Billion Tree Tsunami plantations. Everyone in Pakistan should be appreciating this,” Imran said while addressing 3rd Party Monitoring of Billion Tree Tsunami at Marriott Hotel in Islamabad.

“For those who think we are exaggerating are encouraged to go check their geo mapping, it’s all on Google maps too,” Imran said.

The PTI Chief said that the timber mafia can be fought and governments can take up the challenge against them.

“I commend our KPK ministers, for taking the lead and not backing down in the face of these mafias. They led by example and banished fear,” he said.Imran Khan

Imran Khan said that 60,000 Kanals of land worth 22 billion have been recovered from the timber mafia. “This was only possible because of bravery, honesty and good leadership,” he added.

Imran said that bureaucrats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are examples today as to how beneficial our bureaucrats can be to the Country. He said that they stood steadfast even in the face of threats of violence.

Moreover, he said that Billion Tree Tsunami is now an internationally acknowledged initiative and our little province was acknowledged at the Paris Climate Change Conference.

“Billion Tree Tsunami is just a stepping stone, we wanted to show everyone how this initiative can be executed & from here we will take it much bigger,” Imran said.

The PTI Chief said that the federal government is also now taking inspiration from it, and they have pledged to grow 10 crore trees in 5 years.

Imran Khan further said that we are teaching about Climate Change in schools; we are educating the next generation and also employing women, youth and the elderly in private nurseries. He said that it has been a community and government effort.

“This will go all over Pakistan Insha Allah. Through our students and our ISF we will take this project through all of Pakistan,” he said.

The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak also addressed the event.
