Blast at Pak-Afghan Torkham border; one killed, three injured

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: An explosion occurred at the Pakistan-Afghanistan Torkham border on Friday, killing at least one person and injured six others.

The sources said that the incident happened on the Pakistani side of the Torkham Check Post where a bomb which was planted in a handcart exploded. Resultantly, one person lost his life while six further including two khasadar personnel and an official belonging to the National Logistics Cell (NLC) suffered injuries.

The casualties were shifted to the Landi Kotal Hospital.

Following the blast, the main crossing gate of the Torkham border was sealed which eventually stopped the movement of traffic.

Torkham is one of the major border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan, located on the Durand Line border. It connects Nangarhar province of Afghanistan with Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

It is the busiest port of entry between the two countries, serving as a major transporting, shipping, and receiving site.
