The former president was being shifted from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) to his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad when almost four to six kilograms of explosive material planted in a pipeline near a footpath on the bridge went off.

Police claimed that the attack was aimed at targeting the former president.

Meanwhile, security around Musharraf’s farmhouse in Chak Shahzad has been beefed up while trenches were also being dug up around the area.

Musharraf was shifted to the AFIC in Rawalpindi for medical treatment after he suffered heart problem on his way to the special court to appear before it for the treason case on January 2, 2014.
