LAHORE, Pakistan: A powerful explosion occurred outside the famous shrine Data Darbar in Lahore on Wednesday morning, causing at least eight deaths and injuries to 25 further.

Police said that two vehicles of elite force were targeted in the blast, which were standing outside the Gate No 2 of Data Darbar.

The IG Punjab Arif Nawaz told media that the martyred people also included five security personnel. He told that seven-kilogram explosives were used in the blast.

The Rescue 1122 said that injured were shifted to Mayo Hospital while an emergency was declared in Mayo Hospital and General Hospital.

Police cordoned off the area and began ascertaining the nature of the blast.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan strongly denounced the blast outside Data Darbar in Lahore, and sought a report from the authorities. He commiserated with the bereaved families & directed the authorities concerned to provide best possible medical treatment to those injured in the Lahore blast.

The Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar cancelled his scheduled visits to Bhakkar, Sargodha and Sheikhupura. He summoned an emergency meeting to review the law and order situation.

Usman Buzdar also directed the authorities concerned to provide every possible medical treatment to those injured in the explosion.
