PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Afghan government has rejected the decision made by Pakistan to lay barbed wire at the Pak-Afghan border.
During his visit to the Registration Centre for Afghan refugees at Chamkani area of Peshawar on Tuesday, the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal said that Afghanistan was not in favor of laying wire at the border as it was not the solution of terrorism.
The Afghan ambassador said that it would be better for both Pakistan and Afghanistan that issue of terrorism be resolved through dialogue.
In to order prevent infiltration of terrorists from across the 2,400-kilometer long Pak-Afghan border, Pakistan started building a fence on the border last month.
On March 25, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that being high threat zones, border areas in Bajaur and Mohmand agencies were first priority for erecting barriers.
“Pakistan Army would employ all resources required for defence of the beloved motherland, and safety and security of peace loving Pakistani tribes,” Bajwa said while interacting with the troops during his visit to the border areas in Mohmand and Orakzai agencies.
When asked to comment on the death sentence awarded by Pakistan to Indian RAW agent Kulbhushan Jadhav, Omar Zakhilwal declined to comment on the issue, saying that it was the issue between Pakistan and India.
