Boxer Amir Khan calls on PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The world fame Pakistani origin British boxer Amir Khan called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday.

During his meeting with the premier, the boxer extended condolences over the loss of lives in Peshawar incident and condemned the terrorists attack in strongest terms.

Amir Khan also informed the prime minister about his plan to set up a boxing academy in Pakistan.

On the occasion, the prime minister said that Pakistan is proud of the achievements made by Amir Khan.

Sharif also reiterated his government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country.

The prime minister said that a lot of terrorists have already been killed in the military operation Zarb-e-Azb being carried out in the country’s restive northwestern tribal region.

The meeting was also attended by the federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and the political secretary Dr Asif Kirmani.

The Pakistani origin British boxer also held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general quarters in Rawalpindi on Monday and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of Peshawar carnage.

Later, Amir Khan visited the army public school in Peshawar to express his sorrow over the tragic terrorist attack on the school. He condemned the attack on innocent children and their teachers as well as he prayed for the departed souls.
