Following taxes & duties are charged in the electricity bills of domestic consumers who consume 300 or less units of electricity in a month:
- General Sale Tax (GST) = @ 17% to all consumers
- Electricity Duty = @ 1.5% to all Consumers
- Finance Costing Surcharge = @ 43 Paisa per unit (excluding lifeline consumers)
- Neelum Jhelum Surcharge = @ 10 Paisa per unit (excluding lifeline consumers)
- TV fees = @ Rs 35/-
As on May 2019, 20,658,614 domestic consumers use electricity up to 300 units while 3,411,806 use electricity above 300 units in Pakistan.
- Consumers consuming electricity up to 300 units get a subsidized rate.
Price at which electricity is supplied to the consumers;
Consumers are charged on tariff determined by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) and notified by the Government of Pakistan.
The average per unit price at which electricity is being supplied to the consumers is Rs 15.53 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity (as per tariff determined by NEPRA).
Details of increase made in electricity tariff during the last one year;
The consumer end tariff was notified by the federal government with effect from March 23, 2018, which remained notified till December 31, 2018. Afterwards, a new tariff was notified by the federal government with effect from January 1, 2019, which is still applicable.
