Monitoring Desk—London: British Airways will continue to flying over Iraqi conflict area, said Willie Walsh, chief executive of British Airways.

In an interview to Financial Times, Willie Walsh said that British Airways (BA) will not divert from its existing air routes flying over conflict areas of Iraq as BA considers it a safe route.

Air France and Virgin Atlantic have started diverting flights over the air space of Iraq earlier this week while Emirates Airline will take an expected decision this week to divert its planes. It may be mentioned that German carrier Luthansa has suspended flights over Iraq.

Travel industry is scare to flight over conflicts areas after shooting down of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in Eastern Ukraine where Russian speaking rebels are fighting against pro-EU government of Ukraine.

Iraq has become volatile after Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has established its government and had cache of US arms it took away from Mosul garrison. There are fears ISIS has surface to air missile systems .
